Vehicle Tyre Size
To determine the size of your vehicle's tyres, follow these steps:
Inspect the sidewall of the tyre and locate the sequence of numbers and letters.
The first number indicates the tyre width in millimeters.
The aspect ratio, shown as a percentage, represents the height of the tyre sidewall in relation to it’s width.
A letter and number combination signifies the tyre construction and rim diameter in inches.
Another number and letter combination represent the load index and speed rating for your vehicle's tyre.
Additionally, you can consult your vehicle owner's manual for the recommended tyre size specific to your model. Occasionally, the tyre size may also be listed in the driver's side door jamb or inside the fuel cap door.
Note some vehicles such as BMW and Mercedes can have different size tyres on the front and rear .
If the vehicle has aftermarket wheels fitted, it could have a tyre size not listed by the manufacturer.
